Genesis 29:31-33
Revised Standard Version
31 When the Lord saw that Leah was hated, he opened her womb; but Rachel was barren. 32 And Leah conceived and bore a son, and she called his name Reuben;[a] for she said, “Because the Lord has looked upon my affliction; surely now my husband will love me.” 33 She conceived again and bore a son, and said, “Because the Lord has heard[b] that I am hated, he has given me this son also”; and she called his name Simeon.

31 When the Lord saw that Leah was not loved,(A) he enabled her to conceive,(B) but Rachel remained childless. 32 Leah became pregnant and gave birth to a son.(C) She named him Reuben,[a](D) for she said, “It is because the Lord has seen my misery.(E) Surely my husband will love me now.”
33 She conceived again, and when she gave birth to a son she said, “Because the Lord heard that I am not loved,(F) he gave me this one too.” So she named him Simeon.[b](G)
