And nations bow down to you.
Be master over your brethren,

^(C)Cursed be everyone who curses you,
And blessed be those who bless you!”

⁴⁰ By your sword you shall live,
And ^(A)you shall serve your brother;
And ^(B)it shall come to pass, when you become restless,
That you shall break his yoke from your neck.”

² “I^(A) have loved you,” says the Lord.
“Yet you say, ‘In what way have You loved us?’
Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?”
Says the Lord.
“Yet ^(B)Jacob I have loved;

³ But Esau I have hated,
And ^(A)laid waste his mountains and his heritage
For the jackals of the wilderness.”
