2 Abraham said to his oldest servant [L in his house], who was in charge of everything he owned, “Put your hand under my ·leg [L thigh; C a euphemism for male genitalia, expressing commitment to keep a promise]. 3 ·Make a promise to me before [Swear to me by] the Lord, the God of heaven and [L the God of] earth. Don’t get a wife for my son from the ·Canaanite girls [L daughters of the Canaanites] who live around here. 4 Instead, go back to my country, to the land of my relatives, and get a wife for my son Isaac.”

2 He said to the senior servant(A) in his household, the one in charge of all that he had,(B) “Put your hand under my thigh.(C) 3 I want you to swear(D) by the Lord, the God of heaven(E) and the God of earth,(F) that you will not get a wife for my son(G) from the daughters of the Canaanites,(H) among whom I am living,(I) 4 but will go to my country and my own relatives(J) and get a wife for my son Isaac.(K)”

4 But thou shalt go unto my country, and to my kindred, and take a wife unto my son Isaac.
