Covenant Circumcision

17 When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him, saying, “I am God Almighty.^(A) Live^[a] in my presence and be blameless.^(B)

⁴ and so that the Lord will fulfill his promise that he made to me: ‘If your sons take care to walk faithfully before me with all their heart and all their soul,^(A) you will never fail to have a man on the throne of Israel.’^(B)

⁶ And Solomon replied, “You have shown great and faithful love to your servant, my father David, because he walked before you in faithfulness, righteousness, and integrity.^[a] You have continued this great and faithful love for him by giving him a son to sit on his throne,^(A) as it is today.^(B)

²³ He said:

⁵ Hezekiah relied on the Lord God of Israel;^(A) not one of the kings of Judah was like him, either before him or after him.^{(B) 6} He remained faithful to the Lord^(C) and did not turn from following him but kept the commands the Lord had commanded Moses.
