Ishmael’s Family Records

12 These are the family records(A) of Abraham’s son Ishmael,(B) whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah’s slave, bore to Abraham. 13 These are the names of Ishmael’s sons; their names according to the family records are Nebaioth, Ishmael’s firstborn, then Kedar, Adbeel, Mibsam, 14 Mishma, Dumah, Massa, 15 Hadad, Tema, Jetur, Naphish, and Kedemah. 16 These are Ishmael’s sons, and these are their names by their settlements and encampments: twelve leaders[a](C) of their clans.[b] 17 This is the length[c] of Ishmael’s life: 137 years. He took his last breath and died, and was gathered to his people. 18 And they[d] settled from Havilah to Shur, which is opposite Egypt as you go toward Asshur.[e] He[f] stayed near[g] all his relatives.(D)

13 These are the names of the sons of Ishmael, listed in the order of their birth: Nebaioth(E) the firstborn of Ishmael, Kedar,(F) Adbeel, Mibsam, 14 Mishma, Dumah,(G) Massa, 15 Hadad, Tema,(H) Jetur,(I) Naphish and Kedemah. 16 These were the sons of Ishmael, and these are the names of the twelve tribal rulers(J) according to their settlements and camps.(K) 17 Ishmael lived a hundred and thirty-seven years. He breathed his last and died, and he was gathered to his people.(L) 18 His descendants(M) settled in the area from Havilah to Shur,(N) near the eastern border of Egypt, as you go toward Ashur. And they lived in hostility toward[a] all the tribes related to them.(O)
