⁷ The Lord appeared to Abram and said, “To your offspring^[a](A) I will give this land.” So he built an altar there to the Lord who had appeared to him.

³ stay in this land as an alien, and I will be with you and bless you.^(A) For I will give all these lands to you and your offspring,^(B) and I will confirm the oath that I swore to your father Abraham.^{(C) 4} I will make your offspring as numerous as the stars of the sky, I will give your offspring all these lands, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed^[a] by your offspring,^(D)

¹⁶ ‘Since the Lord wasn’t able to bring this people into the land he swore to give them,^(A) he has slaughtered them in the wilderness.’^(B)

²³ will ever see the land I swore to give their ancestors.^(A) None of those who have despised me^(B) will see it.
