3 And they said to one another, ‘Come, let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly.’ And they had brick for stone, and bitumen for mortar. 4 Then they said, ‘Come, let us build ourselves a city, and a tower with its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves; otherwise we shall be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.’ 5 The Lord came down to see the city and the tower, which mortals had built.

New International Version
3 They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks(A) and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone,(B) and tar(C) for mortar. 4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens,(D) so that we may make a name(E) for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered(F) over the face of the whole earth.”(G)
5 But the Lord came down(H) to see the city and the tower the people were building.
