22 But the scripture included all things under sin so that the promise, by the faith of Jesus Christ, should be given to those who believe.
23 Before faith came, we were kept and shut up under the law, with a view to the faith that would afterward be declared. 24 Therefore the law was our schoolmaster to the time of Christ, so that we may be made righteous by faith.

22 But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin,(A) so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.
Children of God
23 Before the coming of this faith,[a] we were held in custody(B) under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed.(C) 24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came(D) that we might be justified by faith.(E)
