22 But the Scripture has confined all things under sin, that the promise through faith in Jesus Christ[a] might be given to those who believe.
23 But before faith came, we were imprisoned under the law, kept for the faith which was later to be revealed. 24 So the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

22 But Scripture has locked up everything under the control of sin,(A) so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe.
Children of God
23 Before the coming of this faith,[a] we were held in custody(B) under the law, locked up until the faith that was to come would be revealed.(C) 24 So the law was our guardian until Christ came(D) that we might be justified by faith.(E)
