Galatians 3:16-18
Contemporary English Version
16 That is how it is with the promises God made to Abraham and his descendant.[a] The promises were not made to many descendants, but only to one, and that one is Christ. 17 (A) What I am saying is that the Law cannot change or cancel God's promise made 430 years before the Law was given. 18 (B) If we have to obey the Law in order to receive God's blessings, those blessings don't really come to us because of God's promise. But God was kind to Abraham and made him a promise.

Galatians 3:16-18
New International Version
16 The promises were spoken to Abraham and to his seed.(A) Scripture does not say “and to seeds,” meaning many people, but “and to your seed,”[a](B) meaning one person, who is Christ. 17 What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years(C) later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise. 18 For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise;(D) but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise.
