End of the Babylonian Captivity^(A)

1 Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord ^(B)by the mouth of Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of Cyrus king of Persia, ^(C)so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying,

The Tabernacle Offerings Presented

²⁰ And all the congregation of the children of Israel departed from the presence of Moses. ²¹ Then everyone came ^(A)whose heart ^[a]was stirred, and everyone whose spirit was willing, and they ^(B)brought the Lord’s offering for the work of the tabernacle of meeting, for all its service, and for the holy garments. ²² They came, both men and women, as many as had a willing heart, and brought ^(C)earrings and nose rings, rings and necklaces, all ^(D)jewelry of gold, that is, every man who made an offering of gold to the Lord.

The Proclamation of Cyrus^(A)

^22 (B)Now in the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, that the word of the Lord by the mouth of ^(C)Jeremiah might be fulfilled, the Lord stirred up the spirit of ^(D)Cyrus king of Persia, so that he made a proclamation throughout all his kingdom, and also put it in writing, saying,

¹⁴ So ^(A)the Lord stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, ^(B)governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; ^(C)and they came and worked on the house of the Lord of hosts, their God,

¹³ for ^(A)it is God who works in you both to will and to do ^(B)for His good pleasure.
