Work on the Temple Begins Again

24 (A)Work on the Temple had been stopped and had remained at a standstill until the second year of the reign of Emperor Darius of Persia.

(B)At that time two prophets, Haggai and Zechariah son of Iddo, began to speak in the name of the God of Israel to the Jews who lived in Judah and Jerusalem.

24 Thus the work on the house of God in Jerusalem came to a standstill until the second year of the reign of Darius(A) king of Persia.

Tattenai’s Letter to Darius

Now Haggai(B) the prophet and Zechariah(C) the prophet, a descendant of Iddo, prophesied(D) to the Jews in Judah and Jerusalem in the name of the God of Israel, who was over them.

14 The crown will be a memorial in the Lord's Temple in honor of Heldai,[a] Tobijah, Jedaiah, and Josiah.”[b]
