Then Jozadak’s son Jeshua and his relatives ⌞who were⌟ priests and Shealtiel’s son Zerubbabel and his relatives built an altar for the God of Israel. They built it in order to sacrifice burnt offerings. They ⌞followed the directions⌟ written in Moses’ Teachings. (Moses was a man of God). So they rebuilt the altar on its original site, though they were afraid of the people in the neighboring regions. They sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord every morning and evening.

Following the written directions, they celebrated the Festival of Booths. Each day they sacrificed the required number of burnt offerings.

Then Joshua(A) son of Jozadak(B) and his fellow priests and Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel(C) and his associates began to build the altar of the God of Israel to sacrifice burnt offerings on it, in accordance with what is written in the Law of Moses(D) the man of God. Despite their fear(E) of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord, both the morning and evening sacrifices.(F) Then in accordance with what is written, they celebrated the Festival of Tabernacles(G) with the required number of burnt offerings prescribed for each day.
