⁴ “Pass throughout the city of Jerusalem,” the Lord said to him, “and put a mark on the foreheads^(A) of the men who sigh and groan^(B) over all the detestable practices committed in it.”

⁶ Slaughter the old men, the young men and women, as well as the children and older women,^(A) but do not come near anyone who has the mark.^(B) Begin at my sanctuary.”^(C) So they began with the elders who were in front of the temple.

¹⁶ And it makes everyone—small and great, rich and poor, free and slave—to receive a mark on his right hand or on his forehead,^(A)

The Lamb and the 144,000

14 Then I looked, and there was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion,^(A) and with him were 144,000 who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads.^(B)
