² And I saw six men coming from the direction of the upper gate, which faces north, each with a deadly weapon in his hand. With them was a man clothed in linen^(A) who had a writing kit at his side. They came in and stood beside the bronze altar.

² The Lord said to the man clothed in linen,^(A) “Go in among the wheels^(B) beneath the cherubim. Fill^(C) your hands with burning coals^(D) from among the cherubim and scatter them over the city.” And as I watched, he went in.

⁶ When the Lord commanded the man in linen, “Take fire from among the wheels,^(A) from among the cherubim,” the man went in and stood beside a wheel. ⁷ Then one of the cherubim reached out his hand to the fire^(B) that was among them. He took up some of it and put it into the hands of the man in linen, who took it and went out.

⁵ I looked up^(A) and there before me was a man dressed in linen,^(B) with a belt of fine gold^(C) from Uphaz around his waist.

⁶ One of them said to the man clothed in linen,^(A) who was above the waters of the river, “How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?”^(B)

⁷ The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand^(C) and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever,^(D) saying, “It will be for a time, times and half a time.^[a](E) When the power of the holy people^(F) has been finally broken, all these things will be completed.^(G)”
