³ He ^(A)put out the form of a hand and took me by a lock of my head, and the Spirit lifted me up ^(B)between earth and heaven and ^(C)brought me in ^(D)visions of God to Jerusalem, ^(E)to the entrance of the gateway of the inner court that faces north, ^(F)where was the seat of the ^(G)image of jealousy, ^(H)which provokes to jealousy.

⁵ Then he said to me, ^(A)“Son of man, lift up your eyes now toward the north.” So I lifted up my eyes toward the north, and behold, north of ^(B)the altar gate, in the entrance, was this ^(C)image of jealousy. ⁶ And he said to me, “Son of man, ^(D)do you see what they are doing, ^(E)the great abominations that the house of Israel are committing here, ^(F)to drive me far from my sanctuary? But you will see still greater abominations.”

³⁹ For when ^(A)they had slaughtered their children in sacrifice to their idols, on the same day ^(B)they came into my sanctuary to profane it. And behold, ^(C)this is what they did in my house.

¹⁴ All the officers of the priests and the people likewise were exceedingly unfaithful, following all the abominations of the nations. And they polluted the house of the Lord that he had made holy in Jerusalem.
