17 Every hand will be limp. Every knee will glisten with sweat.”[a]
The Coming Terror
18 “They’ll clothe themselves with sackcloth, terror will overcome them, shame will cover their faces, and baldness will spread over their entire heads. 19 They’ll fling their silver into the streets, and their gold will be cast away as impure. Their silver and gold won’t be able to deliver them during the time[b] of the Lord’s wrath. They won’t be able to satisfy their appetites or fill their stomachs, because their iniquity has tripped them up.”

17 Every hand will go limp;(A)
every leg will be wet with urine.(B)
18 They will put on sackcloth(C)
and be clothed with terror.(D)
Every face will be covered with shame,
and every head will be shaved.(E)
19 “‘They will throw their silver into the streets,(F)
and their gold will be treated as a thing unclean.
Their silver and gold
will not be able to deliver them
in the day of the Lord’s wrath.(G)
It will not satisfy(H) their hunger
or fill their stomachs,
for it has caused them to stumble(I) into sin.(J)
