Say to Tyre, who is situated at the entrance of the sea, merchant of the peoples(A) to many coasts and islands, ‘This is what the Lord God says:

Tyre, you declared,
“I am perfect in beauty.”
Your realm was in the heart of the sea;
your builders perfected your beauty.
They constructed all your planking
with pine trees from Senir.(B)
They took a cedar from Lebanon
to make a mast for you.
They made your oars of oaks from Bashan.
They made your deck of cypress wood
from the coasts of Cyprus,(C)
inlaid with ivory.
Your sail was made of
fine embroidered linen from Egypt,
and served as your banner.
Your awning was of blue and purple fabric
from the coasts of Elishah.
The inhabitants of Sidon and Arvad(D)
were your rowers.
Your wise men were within you, Tyre;
they were your captains.
The elders of Gebal and its wise men(E)
were within you, repairing your leaks.
“‘All the ships of the sea and their sailors
came to you to barter for your goods.
10 Men of Persia, Lud, and Put(F)
were in your army, serving as your warriors.
They hung shields and helmets in you;
they gave you splendor.
11 Men of Arvad and Helech
were stationed on your walls all around,
and Gammadites were in your towers.
They hung their shields[a] all around your walls;
they perfected your beauty.

12 “‘Tarshish(G) was your trading partner because of your abundant wealth of every kind. They exchanged silver, iron, tin, and lead for your merchandise. 13 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech(H) were your merchants. They exchanged slaves[b] and bronze utensils for your goods. 14 Those from Beth-togarmah(I) exchanged horses, war horses, and mules for your merchandise. 15 Men of Dedan[c](J) were also your merchants; many coasts and islands were your regular markets. They brought back ivory tusks(K) and ebony as your payment. 16 Aram[d] was your trading partner because of your numerous products. They exchanged turquoise,[e] purple and embroidered cloth, fine linen, coral,[f] and rubies[g] for your merchandise. 17 Judah and the land of Israel were your merchants. They exchanged wheat from Minnith,(L) meal,[h] honey, oil, and balm, for your goods. 18 Damascus was also your trading partner because of your numerous products and your abundant wealth of every kind, trading in wine from Helbon and white wool.[i] 19 Vedan[j] and Javan from Uzal[k](M) dealt in your merchandise; wrought iron, cassia,(N) and aromatic cane were exchanged for your goods. 20 Dedan(O) was your merchant in saddlecloths for riding. 21 Arabia and all the princes of Kedar were your business partners, trading with you in lambs, rams, and goats. 22 The merchants of Sheba(P) and Raamah traded with you. For your merchandise they exchanged the best of all spices and all kinds of precious stones as well as gold.(Q) 23 Haran, Canneh, Eden,(R) the merchants of Sheba, Asshur,(S) and Chilmad traded with you.

Your domain was on the high seas;
    your builders brought your beauty to perfection.(D)
They made all your timbers
    of juniper from Senir[a];(E)
they took a cedar from Lebanon(F)
    to make a mast for you.
Of oaks(G) from Bashan
    they made your oars;
of cypress wood[b] from the coasts of Cyprus(H)
    they made your deck, adorned with ivory.
Fine embroidered linen(I) from Egypt was your sail
    and served as your banner;
your awnings were of blue and purple(J)
    from the coasts of Elishah.(K)
Men of Sidon and Arvad(L) were your oarsmen;
    your skilled men, Tyre, were aboard as your sailors.(M)
Veteran craftsmen of Byblos(N) were on board
    as shipwrights to caulk your seams.
All the ships of the sea(O) and their sailors
    came alongside to trade for your wares.

10 “‘Men of Persia,(P) Lydia(Q) and Put(R)
    served as soldiers in your army.
They hung their shields(S) and helmets on your walls,
    bringing you splendor.
11 Men of Arvad and Helek
    guarded your walls on every side;
men of Gammad
    were in your towers.
They hung their shields around your walls;
    they brought your beauty to perfection.(T)

12 “‘Tarshish(U) did business with you because of your great wealth of goods;(V) they exchanged silver, iron, tin and lead for your merchandise.

13 “‘Greece,(W) Tubal and Meshek(X) did business with you; they traded human beings(Y) and articles of bronze for your wares.

14 “‘Men of Beth Togarmah(Z) exchanged chariot horses, cavalry horses and mules for your merchandise.

15 “‘The men of Rhodes[c](AA) traded with you, and many coastlands(AB) were your customers; they paid you with ivory(AC) tusks and ebony.

16 “‘Aram[d](AD) did business with you because of your many products; they exchanged turquoise,(AE) purple fabric, embroidered work, fine linen,(AF) coral(AG) and rubies for your merchandise.

17 “‘Judah and Israel traded with you; they exchanged wheat(AH) from Minnith(AI) and confections,[e] honey, olive oil and balm(AJ) for your wares.(AK)

18 “‘Damascus(AL) did business with you because of your many products and great wealth of goods.(AM) They offered wine from Helbon, wool from Zahar 19 and casks of wine from Izal(AN) in exchange for your wares: wrought iron, cassia(AO) and calamus.

20 “‘Dedan(AP) traded in saddle blankets with you.

21 “‘Arabia(AQ) and all the princes of Kedar(AR) were your customers; they did business with you in lambs, rams and goats.

22 “‘The merchants of Sheba(AS) and Raamah traded with you; for your merchandise they exchanged the finest of all kinds of spices(AT) and precious stones, and gold.(AU)

23 “‘Harran,(AV) Kanneh and Eden(AW) and merchants of Sheba, Ashur(AX) and Kilmad traded with you.

Thy borders are in the midst of the seas, thy builders have perfected thy beauty.

They have made all thy ship boards of fir trees of Senir: they have taken cedars from Lebanon to make masts for thee.

Of the oaks of Bashan have they made thine oars; the company of the Ashurites have made thy benches of ivory, brought out of the isles of Chittim.

Fine linen with broidered work from Egypt was that which thou spreadest forth to be thy sail; blue and purple from the isles of Elishah was that which covered thee.

The inhabitants of Zidon and Arvad were thy mariners: thy wise men, O Tyrus, that were in thee, were thy pilots.

The ancients of Gebal and the wise men thereof were in thee thy calkers: all the ships of the sea with their mariners were in thee to occupy thy merchandise.

10 They of Persia and of Lud and of Phut were in thine army, thy men of war: they hanged the shield and helmet in thee; they set forth thy comeliness.

11 The men of Arvad with thine army were upon thy walls round about, and the Gammadims were in thy towers: they hanged their shields upon thy walls round about; they have made thy beauty perfect.

12 Tarshish was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of all kind of riches; with silver, iron, tin, and lead, they traded in thy fairs.

13 Javan, Tubal, and Meshech, they were thy merchants: they traded the persons of men and vessels of brass in thy market.

14 They of the house of Togarmah traded in thy fairs with horses and horsemen and mules.

15 The men of Dedan were thy merchants; many isles were the merchandise of thine hand: they brought thee for a present horns of ivory and ebony.

16 Syria was thy merchant by reason of the multitude of the wares of thy making: they occupied in thy fairs with emeralds, purple, and broidered work, and fine linen, and coral, and agate.

17 Judah, and the land of Israel, they were thy merchants: they traded in thy market wheat of Minnith, and Pannag, and honey, and oil, and balm.

18 Damascus was thy merchant in the multitude of the wares of thy making, for the multitude of all riches; in the wine of Helbon, and white wool.

19 Dan also and Javan going to and fro occupied in thy fairs: bright iron, cassia, and calamus, were in thy market.

20 Dedan was thy merchant in precious clothes for chariots.

21 Arabia, and all the princes of Kedar, they occupied with thee in lambs, and rams, and goats: in these were they thy merchants.

22 The merchants of Sheba and Raamah, they were thy merchants: they occupied in thy fairs with chief of all spices, and with all precious stones, and gold.

23 Haran, and Canneh, and Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Asshur, and Chilmad, were thy merchants.
