39 On the same day they slaughtered their children for their idols, they entered My sanctuary to profane it.(A) Yes, that is what they did inside My house.
40 “In addition, they sent for men who came from far away when a messenger was dispatched to them. And look how they came! You bathed, painted your eyes,(B) and adorned yourself with jewelry for them.(C) 41 You sat on a luxurious couch with a table spread before it,(D) on which you had set My incense and oil.

39 On the very day they sacrificed their children to their idols, they entered my sanctuary and desecrated(A) it. That is what they did in my house.(B)
40 “They even sent messengers for men who came from far away,(C) and when they arrived you bathed yourself for them, applied eye makeup(D) and put on your jewelry.(E) 41 You sat on an elegant couch,(F) with a table(G) spread before it on which you had placed the incense(H) and olive oil that belonged to me.(I)
