Ezekiel 20:20-22
New English Translation
20 Treat my Sabbaths as holy[a] and they will be a reminder of our relationship,[b] and then you will know that I am the Lord your God.” 21 But the children[c] rebelled against me, did not follow my statutes, did not observe my regulations by carrying them out (the one who obeys[d] them will live by them), and desecrated my Sabbaths. I decided to pour out[e] my rage on them and fully vent my anger against them in the wilderness. 22 But I refrained from doing so[f] and acted instead for the sake of my reputation, so that I would not be profaned before the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.

20 Keep my Sabbaths(A) holy, that they may be a sign(B) between us. Then you will know that I am the Lord your God.(C)”
21 “‘But the children rebelled against me: They did not follow my decrees, they were not careful to keep my laws,(D) of which I said, “The person who obeys them will live by them,” and they desecrated my Sabbaths. So I said I would pour out my wrath on them and spend my anger(E) against them in the wilderness.(F) 22 But I withheld(G) my hand, and for the sake of my name(H) I did what would keep it from being profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought them out.
