20 The person who (A)sins will die. The (B)son will not bear the punishment for the father’s iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment for the son’s iniquity; the (C)righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself.

21 “But if the (D)wicked man turns from all his sins which he has committed and observes all My statutes and practices justice and righteousness, he shall surely live; he shall not die. 22 (E)All his transgressions which he has committed will not be remembered against him; because of his (F)righteousness which he has practiced, he will live.

20 The one who sins is the one who will die.(A) The child will not share the guilt of the parent, nor will the parent share the guilt of the child. The righteousness of the righteous will be credited to them, and the wickedness of the wicked will be charged against them.(B)

21 “But if(C) a wicked person turns away from all the sins they have committed and keeps all my decrees(D) and does what is just and right, that person will surely live; they will not die.(E) 22 None of the offenses they have committed will be remembered against them. Because of the righteous things they have done, they will live.(F)
