¹³ Now as I was prophesying, Pelatiah^(A) son of Benaiah died. Then I fell facedown and cried out in a loud voice, “Alas, Sovereign Lord! Will you completely destroy the remnant of Israel?^(B)”

² When they had stripped the land clean,^(A) I cried out, “Sovereign Lord, forgive! How can Jacob survive?^(B) He is so small!^(C)”

³ So the Lord relented.^(D)

“This will not happen,” the Lord said.^(E)

⁴ This is what the Sovereign Lord showed me: The Sovereign Lord was calling for judgment by fire;^(F) it dried up the great deep and devoured^(G) the land. ⁵ Then I cried out, “Sovereign Lord, I beg you, stop! How can Jacob survive? He is so small!^(H)”

⁶ So the Lord relented.^(I)

“This will not happen either,” the Sovereign Lord said.^(J)
