Ezekiel 34:26-29
New English Translation

26 I will turn them and the regions around my hill into a blessing. I will make showers come down in their season; they will be showers that bring blessing.[a] 27 The trees of the field will yield their fruit and the earth will yield its crops. They will live securely on their land; they will know that I am the Lord, when I break the bars of their yoke and rescue them from the hand of those who enslaved them. 28 They will no longer be prey for the nations, and the wild beasts will not devour them. They will live securely, and no one will make them afraid. 29 I will prepare for them a healthy[b] planting. They will no longer be victims[c] of famine in the land and will no longer bear the insults of the nations.

  1. Ezekiel 34:26 tn Heb “showers of blessing.” Abundant rain, which in turn produces fruit and crops (v. 27), is a covenantal blessing for obedience (Lev 26:4).
  2. Ezekiel 34:29 tc The MT reads לְשֵׁם (leshem, “for a name”), meaning perhaps a renowned planting (place). The translation takes this to be a metathesis of שָׁלֹם (shalom), as was read by the LXX.
  3. Ezekiel 34:29 tn Heb “those gathered” for famine.

New International Version

26 I will make them and the places surrounding my hill a blessing.[a](A) I will send down showers in season;(B) there will be showers of blessing.(C) 27 The trees will yield their fruit(D) and the ground will yield its crops;(E) the people will be secure(F) in their land. They will know that I am the Lord, when I break the bars of their yoke(G) and rescue them from the hands of those who enslaved them.(H) 28 They will no longer be plundered by the nations, nor will wild animals devour them. They will live in safety,(I) and no one will make them afraid.(J) 29 I will provide for them a land renowned(K) for its crops, and they will no longer be victims of famine(L) in the land or bear the scorn(M) of the nations.(N)
