²⁸ Moses was there with the Lord 40 days and 40 nights; he did not eat bread or drink water. He wrote the Ten Commandments,^(A) the words of the covenant, on the tablets.

⁸ So he got up, ate, and drank. Then on the strength from that food, he walked 40 days and 40 nights^(A) to Horeb, the mountain of God.^(B)

⁴ We^[a] must do the works^(A) of Him who sent Me^[b] while it is day.^(B) Night is coming when no one can work.
