⁸ Moses took the blood, splattered it on the people, and said, “This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you concerning all these words.”^(A)

The New Covenant

³¹ “Look, the days are coming”^(A)—this is the Lord’s declaration—“when I will make a new covenant^(B) with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.

²⁵ In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, and said, “This cup is the new covenant^(A) in my blood.^(B) Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”

⁶ He has made us competent to be ministers of a new covenant,^(A) not of the letter,^(B) but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

²² Because of this oath, Jesus has also become the guarantee of a better covenant.^(A)

⁸ But finding fault with his people,^[a] he says:^[b]

¹³ By saying a new covenant, he has declared that the first is obsolete. And what is obsolete and growing old is about to pass away.^(A)

¹⁵ Therefore, he is the mediator^(A) of a new covenant,^[a](B) so that those who are called might receive the promise^(C) of the eternal inheritance, because a death has taken place for redemption from the transgressions committed under the first covenant.^(D)

²⁴ and to Jesus, the mediator^(A) of a new covenant,^(B) and to the sprinkled blood, which says better things than the blood of Abel.^(C)
