Exodus 9:15-17

15 For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people with a plague so that you would have been wiped off the earth. 16 However, for this very reason, I caused you to stand:[a] so that I could show you my power, and that my name would be made known over the entire earth. 17 You still are acting arrogantly against my people by not letting them go.

- Exodus 9:16 The literal rendering of the Hebrew, caused you to stand, may mean “raised you to power” or “let you remain for so long.” Verse 15 suggests the latter.

New International Version
15 For by now I could have stretched out my hand and struck you and your people(A) with a plague that would have wiped you off the earth. 16 But I have raised you up[a] for this very purpose,(B) that I might show you my power(C) and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth. 17 You still set yourself against my people and will not let them go.
