^7 (A)The ^[a]magicians did ^[b]the same with their secret arts, ^[c]making frogs come up on the land of Egypt.

¹⁸ The ^[a]magicians tried with their secret arts to bring forth ^[b]gnats, but ^(A)they could not; so there were ^[c]gnats on man and beast.

⁹ But they will not make further progress; for their ^(A)folly will be obvious to all, just ^(B)as ^[a]Jannes’s and Jambres’s folly was also.

¹³ He ^(A)performs great signs, so that he even makes ^(B)fire come down out of heaven to the earth in the presence of men. ¹⁴ And he ^(C)deceives ^(D)those who dwell on the earth because of ^(E)the signs which it was given him to perform ^[a](F)in the presence of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who *had the ^(G)wound of the sword and has come to life.
