25-26 All the men 20 years old or older were counted. Each man had to pay a tax of 1 beka[a] of silver. (Using the official measure, 1 beka is 1/2 shekel.[b]) There were 603,550 men. So they collected about 7550 pounds of silver. 27 They used most of the silver to make 100 bases for the Holy Tent and its curtains, 75 pounds[c] for each base.

25 The silver obtained from those of the community who were counted in the census(A) was 100 talents[a] and 1,775 shekels,[b] according to the sanctuary shekel— 26 one beka per person,(B) that is, half a shekel,[c] according to the sanctuary shekel,(C) from everyone who had crossed over to those counted, twenty years old or more,(D) a total of 603,550 men.(E) 27 The 100 talents of silver were used to cast the bases(F) for the sanctuary and for the curtain—100 bases from the 100 talents, one talent for each base.
