⁷ The Lord spoke to Moses: “Go down at once! For your people you brought up from the land of Egypt have acted corruptly.^(A)

¹⁶ so you don’t act corruptly and make an idol for yourselves in the shape of any figure: a male or female form,

²⁵ “When you have children and grandchildren and have been in the land a long time, and if you act corruptly, make an idol in the form of anything, and do what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, angering him,

¹² “The Lord said to me, ‘Get up and go down immediately from here. For your people whom you brought out of Egypt have acted corruptly. They have quickly turned from the way that I commanded them; they have made a cast image for themselves.’^(A)

¹⁹ Whenever the judge died, the Israelites would act even more corruptly^(A) than their ancestors, following other gods to serve them and bow in worship to them. They did not turn from their evil practices or their obstinate^(B) ways.
