⁴⁰ Make tunics, sashes and caps for Aaron’s sons^(A) to give them dignity and honor.^(B)

²⁹ “Aaron’s sacred garments^(A) will belong to his descendants so that they can be anointed and ordained in them.^(B)

¹⁰ and also the woven garments^(A), both the sacred garments for Aaron the priest and the garments for his sons when they serve as priests,

The Priestly Garments

39 From the blue, purple and scarlet yarn^(A) they made woven garments for ministering in the sanctuary.^(B) They also made sacred garments^(C) for Aaron, as the Lord commanded Moses.

The Ephod^(D)

² They^[a] made the ephod of gold, and of blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and of finely twisted linen.

⁷ He put the tunic on Aaron, tied the sash around him, clothed him with the robe and put the ephod on him. He also fastened the ephod with a decorative waistband, which he tied around him.^(A)

³⁰ Then Moses^(A) took some of the anointing oil and some of the blood from the altar and sprinkled them on Aaron and his garments^(B) and on his sons and their garments. So he consecrated^(C) Aaron and his garments and his sons and their garments.

²⁶ Remove Aaron’s garments^(A) and put them on his son Eleazar, for Aaron will be gathered to his people;^(B) he will die there.”

²⁸ Moses removed Aaron’s garments and put them on his son Eleazar.^(A) And Aaron died there^(B) on top of the mountain. Then Moses and Eleazar came down from the mountain,

⁵ Take the garments^(A) and dress Aaron with the tunic, the robe of the ephod, the ephod itself and the breastpiece. Fasten the ephod on him by its skillfully woven waistband.^{(B) 6} Put the turban^(C) on his head and attach the sacred emblem^(D) to the turban. ⁷ Take the anointing oil^(E) and anoint him by pouring it on his head. ⁸ Bring his sons and dress them in tunics^{(F) 9} and fasten caps on them. Then tie sashes on Aaron and his sons.^[a](G) The priesthood is theirs by a lasting ordinance.^(H)
