²¹ In the tent of meeting,^(A) outside the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law,^(B) Aaron and his sons are to keep the lamps^(C) burning before the Lord from evening till morning. This is to be a lasting ordinance^(D) among the Israelites for the generations to come.

The Priestly Garments

28 “Have Aaron^(E) your brother brought to you from among the Israelites, along with his sons Nadab and Abihu,^(F) Eleazar and Ithamar,^(G) so they may serve me as priests.^(H)

²⁶ So he stood at the entrance to the camp and said, “Whoever is for the Lord, come to me.” And all the Levites rallied to him.

²⁷ Then he said to them, “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘Each man strap a sword to his side. Go back and forth through the camp from one end to the other, each killing his brother and friend and neighbor.’”^{(A) 28} The Levites did as Moses commanded, and that day about three thousand of the people died. ²⁹ Then Moses said, “You have been set apart to the Lord today, for you were against your own sons and brothers, and he has blessed you this day.”

⁴⁵ “Take the Levites in place of all the firstborn of Israel, and the livestock of the Levites in place of their livestock. The Levites are to be mine.^(A) I am the Lord.^(B)

¹⁹ Whatever is set aside from the holy^(A) offerings the Israelites present to the Lord I give to you and your sons and daughters as your perpetual share. It is an everlasting covenant of salt^(B) before the Lord for both you and your offspring.”

¹² Therefore tell him I am making my covenant of peace^(A) with him. ¹³ He and his descendants will have a covenant of a lasting priesthood,^(B) because he was zealous^(C) for the honor^(D) of his God and made atonement^(E) for the Israelites.”^(F)
