¹⁷^(A)“Do not desire another man's house; do not desire his wife, his slaves, his cattle, his donkeys, or anything else that he owns.”

¹⁸^(C)When the people heard the thunder and the trumpet blast and saw the lightning and the smoking mountain, they trembled with fear and stood a long way off. ¹⁹They said to Moses, “If you speak to us, we will listen; but we are afraid that if God speaks to us, we will die.”

¹⁷“You shall not covet^(A) your neighbor’s house. You shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, or his male or female servant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”

¹⁸When the people saw the thunder and lightning and heard the trumpet^(B) and saw the mountain in smoke,^(C) they trembled with fear.^(D) They stayed at a distance ¹⁹and said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen. But do not have God speak^(E) to us or we will die.”^(F)
