²¹ The Lord went in front of them in a pillar of cloud by day, to lead them along the way, and in a pillar of fire by night, to give them light, so that they might travel by day and by night.^(A)

²² Neither the pillar of cloud by day nor the pillar of fire by night left its place in front of the people.

²⁸ The waters returned and covered the chariots and the chariot drivers, the entire army of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea; not one of them remained.^(A)

²⁹ But the Israelites walked on dry ground through the sea, the waters forming a wall for them on their right and on their left.^(A)
