^51 (A)And it came to pass, on that very same day, that the Lord brought the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt ^(B)according to their armies.

⁵ But with most of them God was not well pleased, for their bodies ^(A)were scattered in the wilderness.

⁶ Now these things became our examples, to the intent that we should not lust after evil things as ^(B)they also lusted. ^7 (C)And do not become idolaters as were some of them. As it is written, ^(D)“The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to play.” ^8 (E)Nor let us commit sexual immorality, as ^(F)some of them did, and ^(G)in one day twenty-three thousand fell; ⁹ nor let us ^[a]tempt Christ, as ^(H)some of them also tempted, and ^(I)were destroyed by serpents; ¹⁰ nor complain, as ^(J)some of them also complained, and ^(K)were destroyed by ^(L)the destroyer.
