⁴⁸ If an alien resides among you and wants to observe the Lord’s Passover, every male in his household must be circumcised, and then he may participate;^[a] he will become like a native of the land. But no uncircumcised person may eat it.

¹⁶ Therefore, circumcise your hearts^(A) and don’t be stiff-necked any longer.

⁸ And so he gave Abraham the covenant of circumcision. After this, he fathered Isaac and circumcised^(A) him on the eighth day. Isaac became the father of Jacob, and Jacob became the father of the twelve patriarchs.^(B)

¹¹ And he received the sign of circumcision^(A) as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith^[a](B) while still uncircumcised. This was to make him the father^(C) of all who believe^(D) but are not circumcised, so that righteousness may be credited to them also.
