40-41 The sons of Jacob and their descendants had lived in Egypt 430 years, and it was on the last day of the 430th year that all of Jehovah’s people left the land. 42 This night was selected by the Lord to bring his people out from the land of Egypt; so the same night was selected as the date of the annual celebration of God’s deliverance.

New International Version
40 Now the length of time the Israelite people lived in Egypt[a] was 430 years.(A) 41 At the end of the 430 years, to the very day, all the Lord’s divisions(B) left Egypt.(C) 42 Because the Lord kept vigil that night to bring them out of Egypt, on this night all the Israelites are to keep vigil to honor the Lord for the generations to come.(D)
