22 Take the branch of a hyssop plant, dip it in the blood which is in a bowl, and put some of the blood on the top and sides of the doorframes of your houses. No one may leave the house until morning. 23 Yahweh will go throughout Egypt to kill the Egyptians. When he sees the blood on the top and sides of the doorframe, Yahweh will pass over that doorway, and he will not let the destroyer come into your home to kill you.
24 “You must follow these instructions. They are a permanent law for you and your children.

22 Take a bunch of hyssop,(A) dip it into the blood in the basin and put some of the blood(B) on the top and on both sides of the doorframe. None of you shall go out of the door of your house until morning. 23 When the Lord goes through the land to strike(C) down the Egyptians, he will see the blood(D) on the top and sides of the doorframe and will pass over(E) that doorway, and he will not permit the destroyer(F) to enter your houses and strike you down.
24 “Obey these instructions as a lasting ordinance(G) for you and your descendants.
