⁹ I became greater by far than anyone in Jerusalem^(A) before me.^(B) In all this my wisdom stayed with me.

¹² I will do what you have asked.^(A) I will give you a wise^(B) and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. ¹³ Moreover, I will give you what you have not^(C) asked for—both wealth and honor^(D)—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal^(E) among kings.

³⁰ Solomon’s wisdom was greater than the wisdom of all the people of the East,^(A) and greater than all the wisdom of Egypt.^(B)

⁷ But I did not believe^(A) these things until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, not even half was told me; in wisdom and wealth^(B) you have far exceeded the report I heard.

²³ King Solomon was greater in riches^(A) and wisdom^(B) than all the other kings of the earth.
