²⁶ I call heaven and earth this day to witness against you, that you shall all quickly perish from the land which you are crossing the Jordan to possess. You shall not live in it for any length of time but shall be utterly wiped out.^(A)

Blessing and Curse. ^26 (A)See, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse: ²⁷ a blessing for obeying the commandments of the Lord, your God, which I give you today; ²⁸ a curse if you do not obey the commandments of the Lord, your God, but turn aside from the way I command you today, to go after other gods, whom you do not know.^(B)

² All these blessings will come upon you and overwhelm you when you obey the voice of the Lord, your God:

Curses for Disobedience. ¹⁵ But if you do not obey the voice of the Lord, your God,^(A) carefully observing all his commandments and statutes which I give you today, all these curses shall come upon you and overwhelm you:

^28 (A)Assemble all your tribal elders and your officials before me, that I may speak these words for them to hear and so may call heaven and earth to witness against them.
