⁸ But it was because the Lord loved^(A) you and kept the oath he swore^(B) to your ancestors that he brought you out with a mighty hand^(C) and redeemed^(D) you from the land of slavery,^(E) from the power of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

¹² If you pay attention to these laws and are careful to follow them, then the Lord your God will keep his covenant of love with you, as he swore to your ancestors.^{(A) 13} He will love you and bless you^(B) and increase your numbers.^(C) He will bless the fruit of your womb,^(D) the crops of your land—your grain, new wine^(E) and olive oil^(F)—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you.^(G)

¹⁸ But remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth,^(A) and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

⁵ It is not because of your righteousness or your integrity^(A) that you are going in to take possession of their land; but on account of the wickedness^(B) of these nations,^(C) the Lord your God will drive them out^(D) before you, to accomplish what he swore^(E) to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.^(F)
