Deuteronomy 7:21-23

21 You must not be in dread from the presence of them, because Yahweh your God, who is in your midst, is a great and awesome God. 22 And Yahweh your God will clear away these nations from before you[a] little by little; you will not be able to finish them off quickly, lest[b] the wild animals[c] multiply[d] against you.[e] 23 But Yahweh your God will give them to you,[f] and he will throw them into great panic until they are destroyed.[g]

New International Version

21 Do not be terrified by them, for the Lord your God, who is among you,(A) is a great and awesome God.(B) 22 The Lord your God will drive out those nations before you, little by little.(C) You will not be allowed to eliminate them all at once, or the wild animals will multiply around you. 23 But the Lord your God will deliver them over to you, throwing them into great confusion until they are destroyed.(D)
