3 Not with our fathers has Adonai cut this covenant but with us—all of us alive here today. 4 Adonai spoke with you face to face on the mountain from the midst of the fire. 5 (I was standing between Adonai and you at that time, to tell you the word of Adonai, because you were afraid because of the fire and did not go up the mountain.)

3 It was not with our ancestors[a] that the Lord made this covenant, but with us,(A) with all of us who are alive here today.(B) 4 The Lord spoke(C) to you face to face(D) out of the fire(E) on the mountain. 5 (At that time I stood between(F) the Lord and you to declare to you the word of the Lord, because you were afraid(G) of the fire and did not go up the mountain.)
