The Lord Alone Is God

³² “For ^(A)ask now of the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and ask from one end of heaven to the other, whether such a great thing as this has ever happened or was ever heard of. ^33 (B)Did any people ever hear the voice of a god speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and still live? ³⁴ Or has any god ever attempted to go and take a nation for himself from the midst of another nation, by trials, ^(C)by signs, by wonders, and ^(D)by war, ^(E)by a mighty hand and ^(F)an outstretched arm, and by great deeds of terror, all of which the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? ³⁵ To you it was shown, ^(G)that you might know that the Lord is God; ^(H)there is no other besides him.

²⁰ So the people shouted, and the trumpets were blown. As soon as the people heard the sound of the trumpet, the people shouted a great shout, and ^(A)the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they captured the city.

¹² At that time Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord gave the Amorites over to the sons of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel,

Is this not written in the Book of Jashar? The sun stopped in the midst of heaven and did not hurry to set for about a whole day.

^23 (A)And who is like your people Israel, the one nation on earth whom God went to redeem to be his people, making himself a name ^(B)and doing for them^[a] great and awesome things by driving out before your people,^[b] whom ^(C)you redeemed for yourself from Egypt, a nation and its gods?
