18 Don’t make statues of anything that crawls on the ground. Don’t make statues of fish in the water below. 19 When you look up at the sky, you see the sun, moon and stars. You can see everything in the sky. But don’t bow down and worship them. The Lord your God has made these things for all people everywhere. 20 Egypt tested you like a furnace for melting iron. The Lord brought you out of Egypt. And he made you his very own people, as you are now.

18 or like any creature that moves along the ground or any fish in the waters below. 19 And when you look up to the sky and see the sun,(A) the moon and the stars(B)—all the heavenly array(C)—do not be enticed(D) into bowing down to them and worshiping(E) things the Lord your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven. 20 But as for you, the Lord took you and brought you out of the iron-smelting furnace,(F) out of Egypt,(G) to be the people of his inheritance,(H) as you now are.

18 The likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth:

19 And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the Lord thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.

20 But the Lord hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as ye are this day.
