14 (A)Jair the Manassite took all the region of Argob, that is, Bashan, as far as the border of (B)the Geshurites and the Maacathites, and called the villages (C)after his own name, Havvoth-jair, as it is to this day.)

New International Version
14 Jair,(A) a descendant of Manasseh, took the whole region of Argob as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maakathites;(B) it was named(C) after him, so that to this day Bashan is called Havvoth Jair.[a])

21 Afterward Hezron went in to the daughter of (A)Machir the father of Gilead, whom he married when he was sixty years old, and she bore him Segub. 22 And Segub fathered Jair, who had twenty-three cities in the land of Gilead. 23 (B)But Geshur and Aram took from them Havvoth-jair, Kenath, and its villages, sixty towns. All these were descendants of Machir, the father of Gilead.

21 Later, Hezron, when he was sixty years old, married the daughter of Makir the father of Gilead.(A) He made love to her, and she bore him Segub. 22 Segub was the father of Jair, who controlled twenty-three towns in Gilead. 23 (But Geshur and Aram captured Havvoth Jair,[a](B) as well as Kenath(C) with its surrounding settlements—sixty towns.) All these were descendants of Makir the father of Gilead.
