Deuteronomy 26:6-8

6 But the Egyptians mistreated and oppressed us, forcing us to do burdensome labor. 7 So we cried out to the Lord, the God of our ancestors, and he[a] heard us and saw our humiliation, toil, and oppression. 8 Therefore the Lord brought us out of Egypt with tremendous strength and power,[b] as well as with great awe-inspiring signs and wonders.

- Deuteronomy 26:8 tn Heb “by a powerful hand and an extended arm.” These are anthropomorphisms designed to convey God’s tremendously great power in rescuing Israel from their Egyptian bondage. They are preserved literally in many English versions (cf. KJV, NAB, NIV, NRSV).

6 But the Egyptians mistreated us and made us suffer,(A) subjecting us to harsh labor.(B) 7 Then we cried out to the Lord, the God of our ancestors, and the Lord heard our voice(C) and saw(D) our misery,(E) toil and oppression.(F) 8 So the Lord brought us out of Egypt(G) with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm,(H) with great terror and with signs and wonders.(I)
