Deuteronomy 24:17-19
The Voice
17 Don’t deny justice to someone just because he or she is defenseless, such as a foreigner or an orphan, and don’t take a widow’s garment as security for a debt. 18 Remember you were helpless slaves in Egypt, and the Eternal your God rescued you from there. That’s why I’m commanding you to do this and protect defenseless people yourselves.
19 When you’re harvesting your field, if you forget a sheaf, don’t go back out into the field to get it. Let the foreigners, orphans, and widows take it. If you do this, the Eternal your God will bless everything you do.
Deuteronomy 24:17-19
New International Version
17 Do not deprive the foreigner or the fatherless(A) of justice,(B) or take the cloak of the widow as a pledge. 18 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt(C) and the Lord your God redeemed you from there. That is why I command you to do this.
19 When you are harvesting in your field and you overlook a sheaf, do not go back to get it.(D) Leave it for the foreigner,(E) the fatherless and the widow,(F) so that the Lord your God may bless(G) you in all the work of your hands.
