5 because they did not meet you with bread and water on the way when you came out from Egypt, and because they hired against you Balaam son of Beor from Petor of Aram-naharaim to curse you. 6 But Adonai your God refused to listen to Balaam, and Adonai your God turned the curse into a blessing for you because He loves you. 7 You are never to seek their shalom or welfare all your days.

5 However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse(A) into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves(B) you. 6 Do not seek a treaty(C) of friendship with them as long as you live.(D)
7 Do not despise an Edomite,(E) for the Edomites are related to you.(F) Do not despise an Egyptian, because you resided as foreigners in their country.(G)

5 Nevertheless the Lord thy God would not hearken unto Balaam; but the Lord thy God turned the curse into a blessing unto thee, because the Lord thy God loved thee.
6 Thou shalt not seek their peace nor their prosperity all thy days for ever.
7 Thou shalt not abhor an Edomite; for he is thy brother: thou shalt not abhor an Egyptian; because thou wast a stranger in his land.
