9 (whether he does this depends on your obedience to all these commandments I am giving you today—loving the Lord your God and walking his paths), then you must designate three additional Cities of Refuge. 10 In this way you will be able to avoid the death of innocent people, and you will not be held responsible for unjustified bloodshed.

9 because you carefully follow all these laws I command you today—to love the Lord your God and to walk always in obedience to him(A)—then you are to set aside three more cities. 10 Do this so that innocent blood(B) will not be shed in your land, which the Lord your God is giving you as your inheritance, and so that you will not be guilty of bloodshed.(C)
