Good News Translation
12 Anyone who dares to disobey either the judge or the priest on duty is to be put to death; in this way you will remove this evil from Israel. 13 Then everyone will hear of it and be afraid, and no one else will dare to act in such a way.
Instructions concerning a King
14 (A)“After you have taken possession of the land that the Lord your God is going to give you and have settled there, then you will decide you need a king like all the nations around you.

12 Anyone who shows contempt(A) for the judge or for the priest who stands ministering(B) there to the Lord your God is to be put to death.(C) You must purge the evil from Israel.(D) 13 All the people will hear and be afraid, and will not be contemptuous again.(E)
The King
14 When you enter the land the Lord your God is giving you and have taken possession(F) of it and settled in it,(G) and you say, “Let us set a king over us like all the nations around us,”(H)
